Its The Journey That Matters

Image
"Every journey matters. It adds to the existential experience Life offers." Although my roots lie in Bhubaneswar, I have always been amazed of beauty in the stark barrenness of the desert lands. Thanks to a boring job in Pune, I was hunting for a chance to travel. And so, when I was invited to join some friends in Jaisalmer, my excitement knew no bounds, as I hadn’t visited the city yet. After a short flight to Jodhpur, we began the road trip to Golden City. One of the friends had an SUV, which meant we had no hassle of booking a cab. We went to his village, near a railway station called Bhagat Ki Kothi. After refreshments and light snacks, we started for the highway. Suddenly, my tablet dropped a notification. Yes, bosses never leave your trail completely. It was a work email, with directives for a presentation I needed to make. No problemmos! I said to myself as I opened Powerpoint on the tablet, transformed it into a laptop by attaching the keyboard segment, and finishe...

Keep Your Tracks Off Me

“And as it is for the spring flowers, it is for us...” In one of the most striking marketing campaigns and the results, Narendra Modi has won – He is the new PM of India. In another not so famous news, a 2 year baby was hurled down by a priest from over a temple building so that 15 odd villagers could catch him, in a barbaric ritual which is said to make the baby lucky and strong enough to overcome life’s challenges. What I am saying here, is that Life goes on. No matter how much you fret about people and circumstances, you’re never going to live independently unless the system allows you to do so. And it won’t. Deal with it. There’ll be pseudo-secular aspiring political heroes and at the same time there will be religious fanatics with blatantly absurd views. Also, there will be a majority of men who think that the only thing women could do is to cook and keep their beds hot. And there’ll be bureaucrats who defy all that’s humane just to rake in the moolah. You see, as spring plea...

Problem With People, Today

Finally, after ages I write another post. I guess it's becoming a practice for me - write one post every few months. Yes, Time and Responsibilities are a constraint but there's another - which clogs our mind more than the . Do you remember those impromptu laughs of childhood? Rare laughs that echoed through the old walls of the house we lived in. Laughs that showed we were ready to rule our small worlds any time. But then, we were too busy - for wiping the smirk off our faces while playing in the mud, for being stubborn enough to secure the big piece of chocolate, for donning the crown - of the King of our "territories". Only when we indulged in conversations with civilized storytellers who brought to light stories of kingdoms and palaces, of alluring lands far away, of the stars and of the planes flying high and many more; some men did invoke our laughter. The weekly dose of Disney cartoons also played its part in making us happy, once or twice a week. Our comics di...

Less known facts about Hinduism

Disclaimer: This article is intended for peers/light-reading only. Biggies(or anybody) who find this irrational and disrespecting, are not advised to read along. I am not responsible for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages resulting from any inspirational or eye-opening remark. Before going through this article, please note that I am NOT THE RELIGIOUS KINDA PERSON. I am fairly different, from exploring scientific explanations to questioning every damn belief on this planet. I do what I like and mind it, it has nothing to do with those "You would be punished by the lord" and "You don’t know about the reality, son" type stereotype statements. And don't call me an Atheist, rather let me be an Agnostic, an Humanist. This (blogging) is the best option to pour my shit out. Today I will speak of the greatest ill of our society- Education and it's flawed education system. And for (your) god's sake please don't heat up in the middle of ...

Indian Affairs: A Sorry State

Well, after long topsy turvy days I am penning down something. Hope this post doesn't hurt anybody's sentiments. Please bear with my uncharacteristic sentences, if there'd be any. There wasn't any topic worthy of consideration other than the sorry state of affairs in India. Not that writing about it or humming the same over social media gives me immense pleasure, but the apathy of the rulers, coupled with no surge of genuine efforts from the commoners at large - leaves the nation at unfathomable pity. On the West and North-west, a politician with good oratory skills moves lakhs of Indians, convincing them of some sort of a change. The political party in charge, before hours of the event, distributes free skull caps and burqas to the Muslim community which attends the rally. Travel expenses were also paid. A good marketing tactic, many would think, but at the same time in North-east, at Muzaffarnagar, the same party is also accused of kick-starting a riot. Riots are con...

Trees. Poems upon the sky, That Earth so keen-fully writes. Trees. Silent alibis to our Childhood, That was so nonchalantly spent. Trees. Even after they are fell down, Lend their heart to us, To record our emptiness on.
