Growing Up.

When was the last time you watched a bud in your small garden blossom into a beautiful flower in a few days?
When was the last time your eyes chased a butterfly in the backyard till it was out of your sight?
When was the last time you watched one of those lizards in the abandoned corner of your ceiling catch a moth by sheer speed and surprise?
When was the last time your father molded those little fingers into twisty poses, clutching at a fairly sharpened pencil and pressing it to sheets etched with red and blue lines?
When was the last time you joined the dots from 1 to 100 and watched an exciting character take shape?
When was the last time you created an exquisite castle with only a pack of playing cards?
When was the last time you watched a tiny pebble fall into water and create a hundred transitory ripples?
When was the last time you observed a star in the sky and tried to trace the remaining part of the constellation?

I know most of us would believe that Growing Up has taken away our friends.. it has taken away our freedom.. but I think, most of all, Growing Up has taken away from us the Art Of Observing. Being Different. Isn't it? Give it a thought.

  1. I think not in a very very long time. You're right, we are not observing and hence we are loosing a lot in terms of imagination and what we could do besides enjoying of course.
